Can a thin person have body image struggles? Can a thin person be at war with their self-image? Can a thin person hate to look in the mirror?

Absolutely.

And does that suck?

Absolutely.

But the difference between these negative feelings and fatphobia is this: The only person worrying about whether or not I’m meeting beauty standards is me.

And that’s not the same for fat folk.

When you’re not thin, other people on the beach actually do take offense. When you’re not thin, people really do think that you shouldn’t be in a bathing suit. When you’re not thin, people really do make your body their moral obligation.

And while your internal struggle is real and significant, the point is: You might hate your body, but society doesn’t.

That’s thin privilege.

Let’s Talk About Thin Privilege — Everyday Feminism (via samanticshift)

Actually, no. Fuck this post royally. I have struggled so, so hard with my body image, and I used to be severely underweight. However your so called ” thin privilege”? Doesn’t fucking exist because when you’re struggling with you weight even being thin, you usually get to a point where you don’t look healthy or their definition of “good enough”
They do hate your body and they do make your body their moral obligation but in a different way. When I was at this stage the bullying I received had started to get worse, to the point I was physically beaten because of my appearance and because I was underweight and didn’t look healthy. I had to take vitamins to make myself look better even when I wasn’t! I had to eat a “normal” portion of food, even though later it would make me ill, I couldn’t wear summer clothes like dresses or shorts because they hated my body and because it looked wrong. Many of the people I know who suffered with their weight like I did, even though we’re “thin” had pretty similar experiences, if not worse.
 So you know what?
No. Screw your so called thin privilege because it does not exist! It’s just as bad for us guys as it is for those considered obese, or overweight. Society hates our bodies, and want’s to make it “right” or we get the term “it’s just attention seeking” shoved down our throats because we aren’t what you call “fat” so we have nothing to be doing this for. I am sorry but you may have it hard, on the opposite side of things, but those who struggle that are considered thin? WE HAVE IT JUST AS GODDAMN BAD.

Reblog if your parents have ever:

madam-squishy:

- pointed out acne
- treated you like a little slave (you get them EVERYTHING)
- made fun of people who you idolize
- made you feel like an outcast
- ever called you a mistake or worthless
- forced you to go to a place where you weren’t comfortable
- made jokes about your weight
- made you cry
- made you break down
- made you feel like you were all alone
If so I’m going to send each and everyone of you a message!
